WHY JOIN THE HORCC CLUB?

  • Company to ride with
With over 210 club members, there’s always someone to ride with. Join a ride advertised through text message or advertise your own ride and you’ll be assured of someone keen to get out on their bike and join you for a ride. Club members are added to the club email and text message lists so that they receive regular updates and information related to HORCC.

  • Scheduled rides
HORCC have regular weekly rides, leaving at same time and same place each week (but not necessarily riding the same trails each ride). We also have a fortnightly Helensburgh MTB Social session which is held locally on the first and third Saturdays of the month. Join the club to find out the details of these rides.

  • Safety awareness and skills improvement
As Mountain biking is an inherently risky sport, where possible new club members will be assessed for their riding skills and abilities and matched with riders of similar skills and abilities. HORCC riders ride at their own risk and we encourage all riders to have the appropriate level of insurance coverage through AusCycling membership and/ or private health insurance and ambulance cover. All riders are encouraged to assess trails to ensure they ride within their abilities. With 2 accredited MTB skills coaches in the club, there’s always the opportunity to improve your skills through skills training sessions, which are provided to club members for a minimal cost. These are advertised through the club, so join up in order to get the details. Remember safety first!

  • Weekend and day trips
HORCC members organise weekends away or day trips to try out different tracks around the place. These days/weekends are advertised through the club and all family members are welcome to attend, regardless of whether they ride or not. It’s a great way to build connections in the local community for riders and non-riders alike. We also hold an annual Womens MTB weekend away for the ladies.

  • Participating in races and competitions
There are various ½ day, day and weekend races that club members team up and participate in (or, if they are mad enough, do solo). These include Chocolate Foot races, Jet Black series and races, The Scott (24 hour solo and teams), the MONT (24 hour teams), the Kowalski Challenge and the Single Speed World Champsionships. So if you are keen on racing it’s not hard to find others interested in joining you.

  • Social events
Each year we hold an annual Christmas Party and Awards night as well as other social events. These events often have a fundraising element to them (raising money for cancer charities or club accessories) and include events such as trivia nights, barefoot bowling and massive garage sales.

  • Discounts on bike services and accessories
HORCC club members receive a 10% discount on purchases at Steel City Cycles in Thirroul.
Other parts for sale are also advertised through the club email and/or text.
